AFFIRMClick here for a video about AFFIRMAffirm nurtures faith, equips youth leaders for today and tomorrow, and trains youth in discipleship skills. Affirm is for grades 7th – 12th as well as trains college freshman and sophomores for youth ministry in a unit called YAYMI, Young Adult Youth Ministry Institute. YAYMI gives young adults training in peer ministry, small groups, hands on leadership and much more! Affirm is based on 10 different “units”. Each of these units are staffed by small group leaders and a pair of unit directors. Most of our 85 staff members are small group leaders. Going into Affirm I was scared that it would be a week at camp for nothing. I didn't really know if I would get anything out of it. That was definitely NOT true! I felt extremely close to God that week. I learned so much that week not only about God but about my faith. The worship was an amazing experience. Just hearing all the voices singing at the top of their lungs to praise God was one of the coolest experiences. I made a lot of great friends! They were all so nice and we became so close it was sad to say good-bye on the last day. To everyone who is able to go and participate in Affirm in anyway, GO! I am so glad I went and participated in the unit, Genesis. Thanks to everyone who supported my experience.
Eight students attended AFFIRM 2009, two college freshmen attended Young Adult Youth Ministry, and four adults served as AFFIRM Staff members. The youth and young adults led Sunday worship when they returned, and shared their experiences with the St. Timothy congregation.
